Hope you enjoyed the Road Trip (comments welcome)

Posted on February 04, 2010 by Chris  |  Leave A Comment...

I hope you enjoyed reading about our summer road trip. We had a great time on the trip as well as putting together all of the posts for the blog. I am currently working on posts from our recent South America/Caribbean cruise so if there was anything you liked about the Road Trip posts such as "I want more video" or "Too many photos" or whatever I would love to hear your feedback. (although it's probably too late to get you extra photos or video from this trip, it would help for future trips)

Also, if you think you missed anything about the road trip you can read the entire thing from the beginning here. The cool thing about reading it this way is that the posts are in order from top to bottom of your page so you can read it like a real story.

And finally, if you want to keep up with our blog but you don't want to try to remember to visit the site every day you can always sign up for our email list by following the link at the top of the page. The only time you will get an email is when there is a new post and you will get the new post in your email box so you won't have to guess when we might have a new post for you to read.

Don't forget, let me know what you liked and didn't like so I can add your suggestions to this next trip's posts!

Saying Goodbye to Duke

Our family is a little smaller tonight, we lost Duke this morning to what we think was the damage from the liver cancer. Late last night he came over to lay next to me and watched each of us for a few minutes. I think it was his way of saying goodbye.

This morning we woke up and he was just a lump, he couldn't stand on his own and was just very weak. About 10:45 he had a seizure which began getting worse and worse as we rushed him to the vet. They did what they could but his blood test showed his liver was in bad shape and his pancreas was not doing well either, so as much as he fought he just wasn't getting any better. The seizure took its toll on him too and that's when we decided that we had done everything we could for him.

He was the best dog, he brought us so much happiness and we will never forget him.

Taken By Trees - Sweet Child O Mine

I heard this song on the radio last Tuesday right after we dropped Duke off at the vet. It now sticks out in my brain as my "I miss Duke" song. He is still doing okay - not eating yet. But we are feeding him with a syringe (blended turkey, rice and water). I pray he can fight this.

This is the Taken By Trees cover of Sweet Child O Mine. The video is just the album cover photo - but you can at least hear the song.
