Camden Hills State Park

Posted on September 08, 2009 by

Our campground was only another 20 min down the road so we headed out to set up our tent and see what our campsite had in store for us. Also, because of the fantastic weather we bought another bundle of wood.

Camden Hills State Park (campground map) is right outside of the town of Camden Hills. It's so close it feels like a neighborhood, and the bugs weren't bad at all. We took our time setting up our tent to try to get it clean again. It was still wet from the night before so if the nice weather keeps up we may have a dry tent again by the morning.

After setting up our tent we took the dogs on a hike.

We headed across the main road to the beach access area. We had an hour left before they locked the gate so we hurried down the trail to see how it looked. It was an amazing site to be on the rocks with the ocean at the bottom.

This was not the beach we were used to back home. At the North end of this beach area was something that resembeled a beach with rocks instead of sand.

This was cool! But with 30 min left and 15 min of climbing back to the car we headed back to the campground because there was much more to see in the park.

There is a trail from the campground to the top of the mountain that we decided to hike because it was near our camp site, but after starting the trail we decided to turn back because it was getting dark.

This was the perfect time to get our fire started, only this time I didn't have a starter log. I tried burning every scrap of paper i could scrounge and after an hour all we had was smoke. We even tried to get the wood burning with our propane stove and all it would do is char. So all that work and no fire, if anyone ever accuses me of arsen they're obviously lying. I could not get this fire going.

So, frustrated and tired we went to bed, at least it was a fun day overall.
