This may be a strange sight to those of you that have been to Vail, Colorado in the winter time. And beileve it or not there are quite a few things open in the summer time which is a good thing because we were hungry and the next stop was pretty far away.

But don’t get your hopes up, Vail in the summer time is not as active as Winter Park. As you can see there are not many visitors and it does have the feel of a ghost town.

But it is a great time to get your photo without all of those annoying tourists getting in the way. We were able to get a photo with the statue’s caboose in the background without having to wait for the crowds to clear!

Then we stopped in to Vendetta’s for lunch. You know you are in a great lunch spot when they have a house dog keeping the floor warm!

I had the meatball sub, which was the best thing I had all day. (Actually, I think it’s the only thing I had so far that day)

Sandra had the fish salad. I don’t remember what kind of fish it was so you will have to go order it yourself to find out, but it was pretty good as well.

We didn’t plan on staying in Vail, Colorado very long but we were glad we had the chance to see it without the crowds. It really is a pretty spot, but we are on our way to the desert so the mountains will have to wait!
