I feel like I am the last woman alive to read Eat, Pray, Love. I just got it today and I am really excited!
A little background - when this book first came out I was seeing it everywhere. People reading it at coffee shops, on airplanes, it was on so many tables in hotels at weddings (meaning it was brought with them from home to read in the middle of wedding week madness!). I had no idea what it was about - I thought it was a religious book and taught you how to pray. Praying is a very personal thing for me (I imagine it probably is for everyone) and I hate books telling me how to do it. So I wrote it off as something I might not enjoy.
Then when I heard a movie was being made and it had Julia Roberts I knew it couldn't possibly be some kind of documentary teaching you how to pray. So I waited for the trailer to be released (really Sandra? You couldn't just read the book review on Amazon? Apparently not). When I saw it I couldn't believe it - I liked it! I decided I would go see the movie when it came out. I did and I loved it!
So I decided that I wanted to read the book. I usually hate reading a book and then seeing the movie - I have already painted a picture in my head and the movie never seems to match my picture. I've never done it backwards by watching the movie first and reading the book. I will let you know how it goes! I can't wait!
