When we first moved to DC, I made it a priority to go see the cherry blossoms at the Tidal Basin when they bloomed. And pretty much every year after, we still head down to the Tidal Basin to see the blooms. Luckily we have lots of cherry blossom trees near our house so we don't have to head down to the National Mall. But it is fun to get up early and be out there at sunrise before it gets to be super crowded.
It does get crowded quickly - look at the people in the distance, too!
