Spring in the South

Spring in the South

April 14, 2014 ยท Sandra

We were in Birmingham and New Orleans a few weeks ago and I loved seeing all of the flowering trees in bloom. It wasn't quite Spring yet in DC and I was ready to see some color!

Chris made me realize I need to take a botany class or join a garden club because I kept asking people "what is that tree over there?" and no one could tell me. It was a little sad!

We saw these beautiful white flowering trees all over Birmingham. Thanks to Google, I found out they are Bradford Pear Trees.

Then once we went to New Orleans we saw the Japanese Magnolias blooming all over town. We used to see these in Orlando but I think a few years of drought must have killed many of them that weren't in yards with irrigation systems.
