Have you seen this show on the Travel Channel yet? It is awesome! If I would have know about the competition, we would have applied. It is a show that follows a couple from Denver - Albin and Melanie Ulle - as they travel around the world in five months. One of the things Melanie says in the intro is "Some people have said to us 'How can you put your life on hold?' and our response is how could you not?" I completely agree! You only live once.
Chris and I were stuck in a four hour delay last month on I-4 with that crazy 50 car pileup, so we decided to come up with a list of places we wanted to visit. Well, our list kept going...and going...and going. We had over 30 major trips on the list - and we are already in our 30s! We need to get started! I hear there is a movie out right now about life lists, too. I will have to look and see what it is all about.
The Travel Channel said the show taps into the growing trend for lifestyle sabbaticals – extended breaks from the day-to-day grind designed to reinvigorate people's lives.
It's funny - you think five months is a long time. We haven't finished watching all of the shows yet, but I am sure they barely scratched the surface on travel. We are trying to decide if we want to do a National Parks of the West trip this summer, and in trying to plan days, drive time, etc. we are already at three weeks. And I don't think we are in some of the parks for enough time. We are lucky that Chris and I can work while on the road - we just need internet and phone. We are usually slower in the summer - and it is so freaking hot anyway!
