At the beginning of the Santa Monica Pier there is a small bike rental place and all along the beach is a nice paved path. So of course we are going to rent bikes and ride along the beach. The weather was perfect and because it was a weekday there was almost nobody on the beach.
This is unlike any beach that we've seen on the East coast because the sand goes on and on. Here is a photo of the Santa Monica Pier from farther away so you can see how big it is and how much beach there is!
The bike ride was great because we got to see so much more of the beach including all of the cool beach houses and the cliffs along the beach side.
You can ride a bike anywhere, but if you are playing tourist in Santa Monica, be sure to rent a bike because you get to see more of the beach culture and it makes you feel like a local. (almost)
