The Mount Rushmore Memorial grounds are huge and there are lots of hikes you can do once you park your car. You can view Mount Rushmore from SD-44 but it is well worth the $10 parking fee to visit the monument and grounds. We also recommend that you drive along Iron Mountain Road (in both directions and not in a large vehicle because there are some TINY tunnels!) because you can see Mount Rushmore from several of the tunnels.

Dogs are only allowed up to a certain point but you can still get nice pictures there:
