Och Aye - Well THEY are Scottish!

Och Aye - Well THEY are Scottish!

August 21, 2017 ยท Sandra

Only a Scot would see this and laugh! I was walking home from the hospital with James when I spotted this Washington, DC tag and I started laughing. I started to walk away when I realized I should stop and take a picture of it.

If you aren't Scottish, I will explain the Scotticism:

Och aye is a part of "Och aye the noo" which pretty much translates to "Oh yes the now" or "Oh yes just now."

A funny story: When Chris first met my Mum's side of the family I could tell that he didn't quite know what my aunts and uncle were saying. Chris was just nodding and smiling! He has slowly picked up the accent. But then the other day he was on the phone to our health insurance company in Glasgow when he panicked - he couldn't quite tell what the agent was saying 100% of the time!
