It's amazing what can happen to kill your plans for a week, and this past week was a loss for me thanks to some bored hacker who took advantage of one of my other sites.
I now know much more about web site security than I thought I needed, and I'm still not sure if I should be mad about the whole thing or in awe of what they were able to do in such a short period of time.
For example, the site that was attacked usually has around 1000 visits a day to the homepage. Within two hours of this attack the same page had over 80,000 hits. (yes that is a comma) The problem was that each hit was being redirected to a pharmacy site and the redirects were killing the performance of the site overall.
But now that we're all secure and back to normal I will give you more about our trip this week, because we have some great stuff to post about!
