Have you seen the trailer for Four Christmases with Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn? I think a lot of people are going to relate to this movie.
When I was little we never went anywhere for Christmas. Chris said he remembers one time going to Clearwater. I think we went to Chicago once, too. But now that we are our own family, it seems like our three other families all want us at their house for Christmas. It ends up going from a joy to a chore. We can't board the dogs (well, we could but it is expensive) but then two of the three families have cats. Then Chris is allergic to cats and no one seems to care that he can't breathe and feels like crap when he is around cats. Then one family doesn't want the dogs in the house. I just feel like the ideal solution would be to go on a cruise and EVERYONE go, too. We all meet up at dinner, maybe do the same excursions, and go to the pool together. But every time I try to bring this up I get shot down.
When my kids have their own families I am telling them to meet us on a cruise ship. I am not going to guilt trip them into spending Christmas at my house!
